When the assembly line is a little too quiet

I was on the floor yesterday when a colleague joked that the machine operators must have been replaced by robots because it was so silent. He then realized he’d just forgotten to restart the compressor! It’s amazing how a little oversight can turn a buzzing environment into an eerie silence. Makes you wonder if we should include ‘machines we can depend on’ in our next team-building exercise.

I’ve definitely seen the impact of forgetting a simple restart, too — it happened last month when we had a full line down for over an hour because a single switch wasn’t flipped! Sometimes we need to ditch the fancy tech and just double-check the basics.

I remember a time when forgetting the lubricant on the conveyor caused a whole section to freeze up. As @clara_hughes90 said, we really need to ditch the fancy tech sometimes and just double-check the basics. What’s your go-to for catching those small oversights?

It’s wild how something as simple as a restart can slip through the cracks. I’ve found that putting a sticky note on the control panel for reminders works wonders. Have you tried any quick fixes like that before?
